PURPOSE: To plan, implement, and evaluate a variety of professional and technical
development programs for employees. Responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating
training programs and seminars.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans, organizes, and administers an institutional training
program. Confers with department heads and other personnel to determine training needs, plans
training classes and prepares new material or adopts existing material as necessary. Arranges
class schedules and locations. Instructs supervisors in training methods and assists them with
specific training problems. Conducts orientation of new employees with regard to institutional
policies, procedures and benefits. Follows up program to evaluate effectiveness and to determine
the need for revision of method and materials. Performs related duties as required.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
REPORTS TO: General policy supervision from the Director with wide latitude for
independent planning.
SUPERVISION: N/A
SUPERVISION-OTHER: Supervises the work of training specialists and clerical
personnel.
REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education
REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Bachelor's degree with major course work in business
administration, education, personnel management, or related fields.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER:
REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Five years of experience in the field of
assignment.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Use of audio-visual equipment. Proficiency in all phases of work
performed. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this
classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of
Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
