Present: Adrian Amjadi, Rocky Bonura, Robert Brobst, Christine Killduff and Valerie Wagner (Recorder).
Absent: Janice Caldwell, Elizabeth Fernandez, Julienne Gard, Ana Tontcheva and Carl Turano.
A. Call to Order: Rocky Bonura called the meeting to order at 1:05 pm
1.
Minutes: Minutes of May 28, 2014 were approved.
2. Workers’ Compensation: Rocky Bonura reported that there were two injuries for the month of
May with no loss of time from work.
3. Office of Safety and Health: Valerie Wagner reported that she has met with those that have a
valid AED/CPR certification card on how to properly check the additional eleven AED Units that
had recently installed in the Campus Theatre, Facilities Break Room, Humanities, Library, Life
Sciences, MBA Building, Social Sciences Building and the Student Services Center.
Valerie Wagner also reported that approval status is still pending with regard to our Hazardous
Materials Business Plan by the Los Angeles County Fire Department Inspector, Stan Uyehara.
Rocky Bonura reported that the District is in the process of expanding the Emergency Responder
Program which will include C-Cert which stands for Campus Community Emergency Response
Team. My office is going to introduce the C-CERT program in a couple of months. There are a
series of training sessions which employees will need to complete in first aide, triage, search &
rescue and terrorist awareness. Once employees have completed the entire series, the
employees will then be certified as a CERT member.
Rocky Bonura also reported that the District has another relatively new team with regard to
emergency preparedness called AIMS, which stands for Assessment, Intervention and
Management of Safety. The AIMS Team guides the campus community in effectively assessing
and addressing threatening and/or concerning behaviors.
4.
Safety-related Work Order Report: Robert Brobst reported the following concerning work
order numbers: 61550 – Missing and/or vandalized fire extinguisher cabinets and extinguishers
on 3rd and 4th Floors of Parking Lot H. The extinguishers and the cabinets have been ordered and
should be delivered sometime next week. 61193 –Secure loose ceiling tile on the 3rd Floor,
North Entrance of the Humanities entrance. This work order is complete. 61959 – Outside
walkway and classroom entrance to LS109 there is a front panel that has separated from the
outside ceiling. One of the carpenters is working on this. 61188 – Ceiling light cover needs to be
reattached on 1st Floor next to room SOSC-120. This work order is complete. 61707 – 6” H x 2”
W metal pipe gave me a huge shock from the overhead on the 2nd Floor of the Communications
Building. Ernesto Patricio and Rod McMillan conducted a test, but there was no electrical

current drawing off of the metal pipe. 61478 – Remove and clean up raw sewage from Life
Sciences rest rooms located by planting area. This work order has been completed. 62273 –
Black oily substance leaking light fixture. This work order has been completed. 61297 – Exterior
light fixture needs to be reattached in PE-South. This work order is pending. 62198 – Timing for
exterior lighting located in the corridor between the Special Resource Center and Student
Activities Center needs to be adjusted. This work order is pending. 61184 – Repair several light
fixtures on the roof in the Mechanical Room of Natural Sciences. This work order is in process of
being completed.
5.
Old Business:
Art Department – Adrian Amjadi reported that he has asked Nancy Adler to pull any previous
work orders to have metal sheeting from ceiling in the Marsee Auditorium repaired. Rocky
Bonura suggested to have Facilities personnel take a look at the area.
Adrian Amjadi stated that with regard to the open slants on the staircase in the Auditorium, a
company did in fact come out sometime ago and did an estimate for acrylic panels, but the
estimate was too expensive at the time and the issue was dropped. Rocky Bonura commented
that he will take a look at the area.
Adrian Amjadi reported that he has submitted a work order to have a door to the Ceramics
loading dock area repaired.
Facilities – Robert Brobst reported that a window shade will be installed to decrease the natural
light coming into the STEM Center, the Box Office and at the Financial Aid Office.
6. Division Reports:
Natural Science – Christie Killduff reported that the fume hoods in both Chemistry 153 and 167
are not working properly and a work order was submitted to Facilities. Someone from HVAC did
in fact come to take a look at both areas but stated that there was nothing they could do to fix
the problem. Rocky Bonura suggested that Ms. Killduff submit another work order and mark the
order urgent.
7. Next Meeting: Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. on the 2nd Floor of the Bookstore
Building, Conference Room 253.
