Call to Order: Rocky Bonura called the meeting to order at 2:02 p.m.
Minutes: Minutes of January 25, 2012 were approved.
Workers’ Compensation: Valerie Wagner reported that there were two injuries for the month of January 2012 with no lost time from work.
Safety and Health Office: Rocky Bonura asked Valerie Wagner if the various departments are submitting their inspection reports in a timely manner. Valerie
Wagner stated that for the most part the departments are submitting their inspection reports.
Rocky Bonura commented that he will be conducting on line training specifically for the Facilities department.
Facilities Work Order Report: Michael Blada reported that all safety-related work orders have been completed.
Old Business:
Art Department – Rocky Bonura reported that the buyer is still working on changing “rag” service companies.
Adrian Amjadi reported that with regard to the status of the two fume hoods in the Print Making Room, Art 217, there still seems to not be adequate pulling of fumes coming from the hoods due to general fuming in the classroom from the rag disposal, from all the stations using chemicals, and from the acid bath.
Rocky Bonura recommended that he access the Print Making Room when classes are in session in order to make an assessment.
Adrian Amjadi also reported that the hazardous chemicals were picked up by the vendor for disposal.
Facilities – Rocky Bonura recommended that Michael Blada have the mechanic do an assessment of the cost and time it would take to install windshield wipers for each of Facilities work buggies since FPS personnel are requesting them.
Valerie Wagner asked Michael Blada if he had the opportunity to meet with his crew to discuss the “no cell phone usage” while driving the work buggies?
Michael Blada commented that he did not know that this was a standard. Rocky
Bonura stated that employees should have both hands on the wheel driving. If an

Division Safety Reports:
7.
Natural Sciences – Christie Killduff stated that she would like to know the status of the work order submitted to have emergency lighting installed in the
Planetarium as Jean Shankweiler, the Dean of Natural Sciences requested.
Michael Blada commented that when he printed out the safety-related work order report this morning there were no work orders remaining on the report, which more likely means that all safety-related work orders completed. Valerie Wagner recommended that Christie Killduff contact supervisor, Rod McMillian who is in charge of lighting to find out if this work order has been completed.
Christie Killduff also reported that we have a slip and fall hazard waiting to happen near the 3 rd Floor restrooms of the NATS building. There needs to be either non-skid stripping or some type of material installed in this location to prevent slip and fall injuries from occurring when it rains. Rocky Bonura stated that he will take a look at the area in question and make an assessment.
Christie Killduff also reported that we need to have some of electrical cords replaced on the microscopes that have become frayed and need to be repaired by a licensed electrician. In the past, I would submit a work order to Facilities in order to have the cords repaired, but now it was suggested to me by someone in
Facilities that one of the physics technicians should be assign to repair the cords and not Facilities. Rocky Bonura stated that he would talk to Tom Brown regarding this issue.
Art Department – Adrian Amjadi reported that some of the Faculty members have expressed concern and wish to have battery operated back-up units for emergency lighting purchased for them. I was able to locate old paperwork from a vendor, Golden West that had been used in the past and I would like to know if this is something that I could order or would that come from the Office of Safety and Health? Rocky Bonura commented that he would like to take a look at one of the units before ordering.
Next meeting: Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 2 p.m., 2 nd Floor of the Bookstore
Building, Room 253.
