Absent: Robert Brobst, Janice Caldwell, Elizabeth Fernandez, Julienne Gard, Killduff and Ana Tontcheva.
A.
Call to Order: Rocky Bonura called the meeting to order at 1:15 pm
1.
Minutes: Minutes of June 25, 2014 were approved.
2.
Workers’ Compensation: Rocky Bonura reported that for the month of June, there was one injury which resulted in a total of two days away from work.
3.
Office of Safety and Health: Rocky Bonura reported that our Emergency Responder Program will be expanding to include the C-CERT Program which stands for Campus Community
Emergency Response. The C-CERT Program will be introduced to the Building Captains before the scheduled campus-wide Earthquake Drill in October. The C-CERT Program consists of several different training sessions on first aide, triage, search and rescue and terrorist awareness and employees must complete the entire series in order to be certified as a C-CERT member.
4.
Safety-related Work Order Report: In Robert Brobst absence, Rocky Bonura reported the following work orders numbers: 61478 – Remove and clean up raw sewage from Life Sciences rest rooms by planting area. The work order has been completed. 61707 – 6” H x 2” W metal pipe gave an employee an electrical shock. This work order is complete. 62273 – Black oily substance dripping from the ceiling through the light fixture onto flooring in Life Sciences, Room
128. This work order has been completed. 62680 – Flooring in front of door to NATS-8C has bubbled up creating a trip/fall hazard. This work order has been completed.
5.
Old Business:
Natural Sciences – Christie Killduff reported that with regard to the fume hoods in both
Chemistry 153 and 165, Facilities is waiting for parts to come in. The fume hood in Chemistry
167 has been repaired.
Art Department - Adrian Amjadi stated the he will be meeting with Rocky Bonura on July 28 th in order to help resolve the fall hazard due to the open slants on stair casing in the Auditorium.
Adrian Amjadi reported that the door to the Ceramics loading dock area still needs to be repaired. A work order was submitted back in June to have the door repaired and the work order number is, 62649.

Rocky Bonura discussed work orders, 59501 and 37172 pertaining to having the loose metal sheeting reattached to the ceiling in the Marsee Auditorium ceiling. Rocky Bonura stated that his office would contact Michael Blada to find out the status as to what type of corrective action will take place in correcting this problem.
6.
Division Reports:
Natural Sciences – Christie Killduff reported that there is a serious issue of used condoms that need to be removed from the east side ramp of the Natural Sciences Building. Work order
62824 was submitted on July 9 th , but the Operations Department did not respond to the work order in a timely manner. Jean Shankweiler went ahead and cleaned up the area herself and also contacted Campus Police to patrol the area at night.
Christie Killduff also reported that there is a problem with the area where the cadaver refrigerator is located. Rocky Bonura reported that he is aware of the situation. There seems to be an issue not with this particular area itself but with Facilities Staff repairing the refrigerator.
Rocky Bonura stated that he also had received a letter from Cal/OSHA because an employee had them. The employee who contacted Cal/OSHA stated that he was overcome by fumes while working in this area where the cadaver refrigerator was located. Christie Killduff stated that she would recommend that the staff in the Natural Sciences area should open the doors to the room where the refrigerator is located in order to keep this room well ventilated. Rocky Bonura stated that he will be discussing this issue in detail with Facilities staff at a later time.
Christie Killduff also reported that a work order was submitted on July 9 th to have the refrigerator for the cat specimens repaired which still has not been completed.
Christie Killduff also reported the double doors on the west side of the NATS Building are too difficult for those in wheelchairs or using crutches to open and would like to have push panels installed in order to have the doors to automatically open. Rocky Bonura recommended for
Christie Killduff to submit a work order.
Christie Killduff also reported that there is a foul odor coming from the faucet in the Planetarium and a work order, number 62630 has been submitted to Facilities.
