People credited with this unit standard are able to prepare a budget for a turf organisation, and present the budget to the senior management of a turf organisation. Elements and performance criteria Element 1 Prepare a budget for a turf organisation. Performance criteria 1.1 Data is gathered from analysis of historical records or simulated case study, in accordance with enterprise standards. Range data gathered may include but are not limited to – water, soil, weather data, office overheads, machinery and equipment replacement, reconstruction, labour costs, fertiliser, irrigation, chemicals, drainage, topdressing, seed and turf, fuel and oil, repairs and maintenance of equipment, landscaping, contingencies, past budgets, estimates and quotes. 1.2 Maintenance standards are selected and priced in accordance with the turf organisation’s resources, goals, and objectives. 1.3 Budget is formulated in a modular style in accordance with enterprise standards. Range 1.4 Budget presentation and documentation requirements are in accordance with enterprise standards. Range 1.5 budget formulated may include but is not limited to – water, soil, weather data, office overheads, machinery and equipment replacement, reconstruction, labour costs, fertiliser, irrigation, chemicals, drainage, topdressing, seed and turf, fuel and oil, repairs and maintenance of equipment, landscaping, contingencies. presentation and documentation requirements may include but are not limited to – cover page, contents page, executive summary, appendix, stand alone figures and tables. Budget is completed in a time-frame agreed with management, and in accordance with enterprise standards. Performance criteria 2.1 Written budget is presented for review by turf manager prior to circulation in accordance with enterprise standards. 2.2 Presentation of budget meets the needs and expectations of the organisation, and is in accordance with enterprise standards. Range presentation of budget includes – oral communication, written communication, visual aids, personal appearance, quality of documentation, time allocation, response to audience questions. Please note Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards. Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
