Definitions
Worksite procedure refers to the documented
procedures for the machine and/or worksite.
Statutory requirements may include but is not limited to
the relevant sections of the New Zealand Building Code
and the relevant standards such as the New Zealand
Standard (NZS) 3000:1997, Electrical Installations Buildings, Structures and Premises, and NZS
4332:1997, Non-Domestic Passenger and Goods Lifts.
Territorial authority and inspecting authority refers to
the relevant Local Body Authority and the by-laws of
that authority for the particular local body area.

All work practices must meet recognised codes of
practice and documented worksite safety procedures
(where these exceed code) for personal, product and
worksite safety, and must meet the obligations required
under current legislation. Legislation includes but is not
limited to the Health and Safety in Employment Act
(1992), and its subsequent amendments.

Plan and prepare for work on lift equipment.

1.1
Type and extent of modification is identified from work orders, inspection
reports, maintenance schedules or requests, and confirmed if necessary by site
inspection, according to worksite procedure.
1.2
Design requirements are identified and assessed following an interpretation of
plans, drawings, and texts according to worksite procedure.
1.3
Sequence of work is prioritised and coordination issues including the
implications of the design plan, are resolved with those involved or affected by
the work according to worksite procedure.
1.4
Resources required for the job including equipment, materials, drawings, tools,
and personnel are identified and transported to the worksite according to
worksite procedure.

Equipment is isolated in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications and
worksite procedure.

Modification is carried out according to the technical specifications, design
details and worksite procedure.
2.3
Modification is carried out without damage or distortion to the surrounding
environment and other services, in accordance with worksite standards of
cleanliness, and with a minimum of waste or re-work.
2.4
Modification is tested and monitored for compliance with manufacturers’ and
worksite specification.

Carry out completion work on lift equipment.

3.1
Inspection by territorial inspecting authority is arranged to ensure that
equipment complies with statutory and territorial authority requirements.
3.2
Equipment is tested and monitored for compliance with manufacturers’
specifications and entered into service in accordance with worksite procedure.
3.3
The relevant parties are notified of work completion according to worksite
procedure.
3.4
Work site is cleared and equipment, plans, drawings, and tools returned
according to worksite procedure.
3.5
Records are completed according to worksite procedure.
