New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 14583 28-Jun-16 2 of 4 LIFTS AND ESCALATORS Inspect, test, and maintain lift performance parameters 2 All work practices must meet recognised codes of practice and documented worksite safety procedures (where these exceed code) for personal, product and worksite safety, and must meet the obligations required under current legislation. Legislation includes but is not limited to the Health and Safety in Employment Act (1992), and its subsequent amendments. 3 A working knowledge of a variety of test instruments will be required to gain credit in this unit standard, and these may include but are not limited to - tachometer, accelerometer, rope tensioner, door force meter, load cell devices, multimeter, oscilloscope, megger, frequency counter, signal generator. Elements and Performance Criteria element 1 Set up for checking lift performance parameters. performance criteria 1.1 An inspection of the worksite and the systems to be maintained is arranged with other personnel according to worksite procedure. 1.2 Sequence of work is prioritised and coordination issues are resolved with others involved or affected by the work according to worksite procedure. New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 14583 28-Jun-16 3 of 4 LIFTS AND ESCALATORS Inspect, test, and maintain lift performance parameters 1.3 Resources required for the job including equipment, materials, plans, drawings, tools, and personnel are identified, prepared, and transported to the worksite according to worksite procedure. element 2 Check, test, and adjust variable performance parameters. performance criteria 2.1 System parameters are identified from system documentation according to worksite procedure. 2.2 Individual systems are checked, measured as required, and confirmed as either being within or outside tolerances according to worksite procedure. 2.3 Parameters are adjusted by the replacement or reprogramming of components according to worksite procedure. 2.4 Adjusted or redefined parameters are confirmed prior to work completion according to worksite procedure. element 3 Carry out completion work. performance criteria 3.1 The relevant parties are notified of work completion according to worksite procedure. New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 14583 28-Jun-16 4 of 4 LIFTS AND ESCALATORS Inspect, test, and maintain lift performance parameters 3.2 Worksite is cleared and equipment, plans, drawings and tools returned according to worksite procedure. 3.3 Records are completed according to worksite procedure.
