Definitions
Worksite procedure refers to the documented
procedures for the enterprise and/or worksite.
Statutory requirements may include but is not limited to
the relevant sections of the New Zealand Building Code
and relevant standards such as the New Zealand
Standard (NZS) 3000:1997, Electrical Installations –
Buildings, Structures and Premises, and NZS
4332:1997, Non-Domestic Passenger and Goods Lifts.

All work practices must meet recognised codes of
practice and documented worksite safety procedures
(where these exceed code) for personal, product and
worksite safety, and must meet the obligations required
under current legislation. Legislation includes but is not
limited to the Health and Safety in Employment Act
(1992), and its subsequent amendments.

Those intending to work towards being credited with
this unit standard should note that work involved with
this unit standard can take place at heights well above
ground level, and therefore requires a relevant level of
physical fitness and ability to work at heights.

Plan and prepare for work on false lift cars.

1.1
Work requirements are identified from contracts and layouts and confirmed, if
necessary by site inspection, according to worksite procedure.
1.2
Resources required for the job including equipment, materials, tools and
personnel are identified, prepared, and transported to the work site according to
worksite procedure.

Assemble and rope the false car.
performance criteria
2.1
False car and the operational mechanisms are assembled in accordance with
manufacturers’ specifications and worksite procedure.
2.2
False car is roped in accordance with the requirements of manufacturers’
specifications, manufacturers’ manual and worksite procedure.

Test false cars for compliance.

3.1
False car is tested to ensure compliance with manufacturers’ specifications in
accordance with worksite procedure.
3.2
Irregularities are fixed or reported according to worksite procedure.
Range:

irregularities may include but are not limited to - wear and damage
affecting safety or performance.
Scheduled safety tests and maintenance inspections are carried out and
recorded in accordance with worksite procedure.

Dismantle false cars and carry out completion work for false lift cars.

4.1
False cars are dismantled without damage according to worksite procedure.
4.2
Work is completed and relevant parties notified, in accordance with agreed plan
and according to worksite procedure.
4.3
Worksite is cleared and equipment and tools returned according to worksite
procedure.
