Explanatory notes 1 This unit is a prerequisite to Unit 4407, Complete hydrostatic tests of scuba cylinders. 2 To industry criteria, in the case of cylinder inspections and testing, means to meet the requirements of the New Zealand Underwater Association (NZUA) or Testing Laboratory and Registration Council (TELARC). 3 This unit standard is All training providers offering any recreational scuba diving units must ensure that the training is conducted by a qualified instructor in current teaching status with one of expiring the listed agencies: National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI), Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), Scuba Schools International (SSI), Confederation Mondiale des Activities Subaquatique (CMAS) (or an equivalent determined by the ITO); and the instructor be providing training in accordance with the standards and procedures of the respective training agency. Range 1.3 attachments, compliance and/or non-compliance, LAB number, paint condition, approved marks, surface damage, corrosion, pass/fail. Owner and station documentation of the inspection meets industry criteria. Outcome 2 Inspect the interior of a scuba cylinder in accordance with Dangerous Goods (Class 2 Gases) Regulations 1980 and its amendments and industry criteria. Range vice and/or clamp system, valve removal, interior inspection equipment, reference documents, interior condition, cleaning, drying, recording results. Evidence requirements 2.1 Inspection equipment complies with Dangerous Goods Regulations. 2.2 Inspection procedures comply with Dangerous Goods Regulations. 2.3 Parameters for failure are explained to Dangerous Goods Regulations. 2.4 Cleaning and drying procedures meet industry criteria. 2.5 Re-valving procedures comply with Dangerous Goods Regulations. 2.6 Customer and station documentation complies with Dangerous Goods Regulations.
