Explanatory notes 1 This unit standard is designed for dairy industry staff, such as receptionists and milk collection operators, who are not currently working within a team in the dairy industry. It is therefore expected that assessment against this unit standard will take place in a simulated situation. 2 Specific dairy industry scenarios may include but are not limited to – changes to routes for milk collection due to emergency/breakdowns; redirected milk supplies to cover product mix shifts from other plants. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Demonstrate communication within a team situation in the dairy industry. Evidence requirements 1.1 Barriers, and their remedies, to team communication are identified for workplace settings. Range 1.2 verbal, non-verbal, culture, gender. Active listening skills are demonstrated in a team situation. Evidence is required for three skills. Outcome 2 Participate in a team problem-solving process focused on a specific dairy industry scenario. Evidence requirements 2.1 Stages of problem-solving process are explained in terms of their purpose. Range 2.2 stages may include but are not limited to – define problem, collect information, identify options, test options, select solution, take action, review result. Participation contributes to attainment of team goals. Range participation – ideas, clarification, encouragement, constructive feedback. Outcome 3 Demonstrate team skills in a specific dairy industry scenario. Evidence requirements 3.1 Instructions and messages are checked to ensure clarity of understanding. 3.2 Respectful behaviour is demonstrated in terms of contributions of others. Range 3.3 respect includes but is not limited to – no interruptions, no monopolising of discussion. Delegated duties are carried out to team requirements. Range duties may include but are not limited to – time keeping, researching information, completing actions. Evidence is required for two duties. This unit standard is expiring.
