People credited with this unit standard are able to: research the market place; advertise an automotive product or service; and carry out an automotive sales campaign. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Research the market place. Evidence requirements 1.1 Factors affecting sales demand are identified. Range 1.2 catchment area, economic environment, product and pricing, supply and demand, niche in the market-place, customer buying motives, environmental image, service back-up, business reputation. Existing and recent marketing programmes for similar products are identified, and a strategy report is produced and confirmed with management. Evidence requirements 2.1 Product knowledge is consistent with manufacturer's details. 2.2 Sales promotional aids that will improve product image are identified, consistent with product manufacturer's recommendations. 2.3 Publicity coverage and costs are defined and confirmed with management. 2.4 An advertising budget that is within management's stated expenditure allowance is developed. 2.5 Copy is prepared, approved by management, and accepted by the advertiser. Outcome 3 Carry out an automotive sales campaign. Evidence requirements 3.1 A campaign organisation timetable is produced that is approved by all the parties involved. 3.2 The planned sales campaign is completed within the timetable requirements. 3.3 Automotive sales as a direct result of the marketing programme are evaluated against costs and target. This unit standard is expiring. Assessment against the standard must take place by the last date for assessment set out below. Providers and Industry Training Organisations, which have been granted consent and which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
