People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of planning an automotive product promotion, and complete an automotive product promotion plan. Evidence requirements 1.1 Purpose of planning an automotive product promotion is identified. Range 1.2 Ways of carrying out an automotive product promotion are identified. Range 1.3 company profile, financial, moving stock, improving customer base. in combination with supplier, in-house; direct mail, showroom, advertising, word of mouth. Procedures to carry out an automotive product promotion are identified. Range identifying customer needs, calculating promotional costs, determining the effectiveness of promotion, selecting the product, availability of the product, timing of the promotion, monitoring competitor activities. Evidence requirements 2.1 Suitable advertising media are identified. local and national – print (trade journals, newspapers, magazines), radio, television. Range 2.2 Promotional costs and effectiveness are identified. Range newspapers, pamphlets, direct mail, broadcasting media. 2.3 Availability of sufficient product for the term of the promotion is determined with the supplier. 2.4 Competitor activities are identified, analysed, and taken into account when formulating plan. 2.5 An analysis of the plan is produced and presented to the supervisor. Range product recommendation, product supply and likely demand, customer target, financial projection, effectiveness of different types of advertising, length of promotion, method of obtaining customer feedback, feasibility of product relaunch.
