People credited with this unit standard are able to plan and implement an automotive product sales project by: researching the product to be marketed; planning a selling strategy; constructing an automotive product display; demonstrating knowledge of extending sales relating to a product; and completing the automotive product project. Evidence requirements 1.1 A description of the product is obtained and general features and technical specifications are identified. 1.2 The main selling features of the product are identified as those prescribed by the product manufacturer. Evidence requirements 2.1 Methods of selling the product to different types of customer are identified. Range 2.2 Promotional advertising for the product is designed and the advertising approved by the supervisor. Evidence requirements 3.1 A marketing display plan utilising available promotional material is submitted and approved by the supervisor. 3.2 A display is constructed in the workplace. Range design principles, pattern, type, incorporating a theme, positioning in workplace, use of material supplied, overall impact, supervisor or management approval. Outcome 4 Demonstrate knowledge of extending sales relating to the automotive product. Evidence requirements 4.1 The ways in which the sale of the product can be extended are identified. Outcome 5 Complete the automotive product project. Evidence requirements 5.1 The information gained in researching the product, planning a selling strategy, constructing a display, and obtaining knowledge of extending sales, is compiled into a project workbook for future reference. 5.2 A summary of the automotive product project is given to the supervisor.
