Purpose
This unit standard is for people employed in those sectors of
the automotive service industry that require expertise in parts
merchandising. People credited with this unit standard are able
to: select a storage system for automotive parts; select a stock
control system; select a stock security system; demonstrate
knowledge of system installation and arrange suitable training
for operators.

Outcome 1
Select a storage system for automotive parts.
Evidence requirements
1.1
A report to management is compiled on storage systems, currently on the
market, that are suitable for the types of goods to be stored, and the type of
operation in which the company is involved.
1.2
A storage system is recommended, from those in the report, that meets
company requirements.

Select a stock control system.
Evidence requirements
2.1
A report to management is compiled on stock control systems, currently on the
market, that are suitable for the type of goods to be stored, the rate of turnover,
and the type of operation in which the company is involved.
2.2
A stock control system is recommended, from those in the report, to meet
company requirements.

3.1
A report to management is compiled on security systems, currently on the
market, that are suitable for the type of operation in which the company is

Demonstrate knowledge of system installation and arrange suitable training for
operators.

4.1
The considerations necessary to ensure the most efficient sequence of events
and timing of the installation are described.

the completion of system installation.

Providers and Industry Training Organisations, which have been granted consent and
which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that
applies to those standards.
