Pederson with second. i. Motion passes New Business a. Dakota College Bottineau Student Nurses Organization i. Attached with Bottineau, but want to have their organization through the VCSU campus and culture. ii. Mainly for student nurses enrolled in the program iii. Giving back to community 1. Vangstad’s bulletin board 2. Fundraiser for helping a needy family, give trees, etc. iv. Events such as Go Red for women v. Dahlberg moves to recognize the Student Nurses Organization as recognized. Faure with second. 1. Motion passes b. Student Relations i. Dorm Advertising 1. Thinking to be more recognized as student senators. 2. Those of us on campus could have picture on doors as well as a blurb so that we can get our names out there. 3. Makes more of a connection on campus. 4. We want people to know that we do care about them. ii. Nametags 1. We need to know people who we are 2. Wear them once a week. 3. If you lose those nametags, you must pay for them. 4. Wearing them on Viking Spirit Day. 5. Hand them out after the meeting iii. Meet & Greet 1. Have snacks 2. Do a meet and greet instead of a campus forum 3. Do this once a semester. 4. Held in the beginning of Fall and Spring. VI. VII. Unfinished Business a. Student Senate Apparel i. Make sure you have your money in Wednesday. ii. The sooner the better b. Student Senate Forum i. Having different sizes for foods ii. Smaller bread for sandwiches iii. Whole wheat bread iv. Making avocado available for sandwiches v. Sweet potato fries c. Viking Spirit i. Nothing to say because it was not held last week ii. Name tags count d. Robert’s Rule i. Senators pay for them, keep the books ii. Senate pays for them, don’t keep books unless you want them, then you would have to pay for them. iii. Hoover motions to purchase Rob’s Rules. Aune with second. 1. Motion passes Reports a. President i. Executive Team 1. Discussed transitioning going on among administrators with people being hired 2. State Board of Higher Education coming on Wednesday and Thursday. 3. Rhoades ground has been broken, working on construction ii. Parking situation 1. Schmalz reports that people are obeying the parking situation 2. Need senators to support. b. Vice President i. In next week or so, there will be an email going out for Video Stream, which will cover the science building. c. Treasurer i. Snow Sculpture 1. Postponed to another time. 2. Artist could only come for a short period of time, but he wants a longer period of time. 3. Transfer of funds did not happen d. Secretary i. NO REPORT e. NDSA i. NDSA is on campus this weekend ii. The football team came out #12 in the final season rankings; they travel to Helena, MT, this weekend to play their playoff game versus Carroll College. ii. Men’s Basketball 1. Won on Friday versus Briercrest University 83-46, lost on Saturday to Doane College 74-63, record on the year is 2-3. Play Tuesday in Moorhead versus MSUM, game time is 8 pm. Headed to Wisconsin for the weekend. iii. Women’s Basketball 1. Won on Friday versus Mount Marty College 54-51, lost on Saturday to Dakota Wesleyan University 76-71, record on the year is 2-3. Play Tuesday in Moorhead versus MSUM, game time is 6 pm. Headed to Montana for the weekend. j. Fine Arts i. Next Monday, Chamber Ensembles will be performing a concert in Vangstad Auditorium at 7:30pm 1. Will include Percussion Ensemble, Saxophone Quartet, and Brass Quintet ii. Next Tuesday and Wednesday, VCSU choir will be going on a mini-tour around the Battle Lake, Casselton, and Valley City area. k. Communication and Social Sciences i. NO REPORT l. The Vice President for Business Affairs search is underway, and they are busy checking references. They plan to have interviews by December first. They have gotten 24 candidates for a first review. They also are VIII. IX. looking at combining committees because of the HLC visit’s mention that there are too many committees. ii. Curriculum Committee 1. Second readings for Educaiotn, BIT, CASS completed, HPER completed, medical lab science major was approved along with all biology second reads 2. Waiting on Math 3. New first read for psychology 4. Athletic training will be read at State Board next week iii. Staff Senate 1. Holiday Parade 2. Food pantry donations 3. Having campus safety walk tonight Announcements a. Books for Soldiers i.
