B. Describe this Action Project’s goal in 100 words or fewer.
The goal of this project is to improve internal communication of the College’s various
functions, projects and initiatives -- its official business -- by improving employees’
access to information.
C. Identify the single AQIP Category that this Action Project will most affect or impact.

D. Describe briefly your institution’s reasons for taking on this Action Project now —
why the project and its goals are high among your current priorities.
During the AQIP Steering Committee’s data mining process, the problem of poor
communication was repeatedly revealed. This project is one approach to improving
communication at the College.
E. List the organizational areas — institutional departments, programs, divisions, or units
— most affected by or involved in this Action Project.
Change/improvement in the accessibility of information relative to the College’s official
business will affect all organizational units as transmitters of information and knowledge
as well as all employees as receivers of information and knowledge.
F. Name and describe briefly the key organizational process(es) that you expect this
Action Project to change or improve.
Key processes affected by this Action Project are the processes for sending and receiving
information and knowledge related to official college business.
G. Explain the rationale for the length of time planned for this Action Project (from
kickoff to target completion).
This project is focused on improving the accessibility of information relative to the
College’s official business. The project entails an audit of currently available
information, evaluating the effectiveness of the current system, making changes, and
evaluating the effectiveness of the changes. The audit will be completed by May 2006.
The evaluation and changes will be completed by August 2006. The evaluation of the
changes will be completed by June 2007.
H. Describe how you plan to monitor how successfully your efforts on this Action Project
are progressing.
A Communications Team has been established and charged with this project. They will
report to the AQIP Steering Committee whose responsibility is to track the progress of
Action Projects.
I. Describe the overall “outcome” measures or indicators that will tell you whether this
Action Project has been a success or failure in achieving its goals.
Outcome measures will be embedded in the evaluation tool developed by the
Communications Team and will indicate that employees of the College have better access
to information about the College’s official business.
