Higher-Learning Commission pre-conference offering April 9
entitled AQIP Colloquium. Kate, Lew, Carol, Margaret,
Diane will attend.
Jim will be traveling to Washington State and will contact
Mark Nutter for a visit concerning AQIP Steering committees.
Kate had phone conversation with Robin Menschenfreund
from Zane State about AQIP committees. Zane sent 18 to
AQIP Champions Training to learn how to develop interest
across the college. 11 of those went to Strategy Forum. The
current AQIP Team members come from the same group and
report to the Team for Institutional Effectiveness. The AQIP
Team oversees the Action Project Teams.
AQIP Web
Site
Kate met with Michael and the material she presented for web
site didn’t meet the criteria needed.
AQIP
Application
Dr. Abrams received notification that North Central State
College’s proposal had been accepted. Discussion as to how
to celebrate.
AQIP
Projects
Choosing 3 to 4 college projects for the AQIP process.
Achieving the Dream (ATD) initiative and semester
conversion were two candidates for the project portion of the
process.
 The process for identifying projects for AQIP should
be clearer after the presentation by the consultants on
March 8th.
 Both would support the AQIP Criterion, “Helping
Students Learn.”
 Have ATD Steering Committee and Semester
Conversion Steering Committee?
 Too much to do at once? Or do they support each
other? ATD focuses on improving outcomes for
underserved populations and may lead to changes in
instructional/learning design. The semester conversion
would drive a curriculum redesign that may lead to
changes in content and outcomes. Different emphases,
both important for student success.
Kate will re-work the material and
present it to Michael. Also discuss
with Michael where it will be
located.
Talk to Betty about college-wide
celebration.
Put article in Newsbrief and notify
Alice to save space in summer/fall
Leader for an article.
Further discussion re: Should we
pursue either or both Achieving the
Dream and semester conversion.
Both will be addressed by Dr.
Abrams in March 3 forum.
Committee members should also
discuss with others where there are
opportunities.
