Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. The Specialist, Web Communications, is a member of the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension (UNCE) and reports to the Communications Specialist. The focus of this position is conceptualizing, planning, designing and producing web pages for the UNCE website that support operations and marketing for UNCE. The individual is responsible for creating designs and coding into standards-based websites and manages content updates. The individual also works with the Communications Specialist on other marketing projects, such as design concepts for print materials, as needed. 2. List the major responsibilities, including percentage of time devoted to each. Level of Freedom: The individual works closely with the Communications Specialist to create and implement specific goals and strategies. The position has the freedom to make necessary design formatting, presentation, and other editorial decisions in order to make the website more effective provided they fall within the direction set. Although subject to supervisor oversight, the position’s recommendations are of primary consideration in decisions related to website production. The Specialist, Web Communications is a professional of the craft whose knowledge, experience and skill is relied on to ensure quality, effectiveness, and accessibility in the UNCE website. Impact: The unit will only be capable of fulfilling its responsibilities if the duties of the Specialist are accomplished in a timely manner with a high level of accuracy, personal enterprise and creativity.
