Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. Attach an organizational chart with positions, ranges, and names for the division which reflects the position in it as well as those supervised in the department. The Director, Child and Family Research Center (CFRC), provides leadership and coordination for all center programs including operation of the learning laboratory that supports the education and training of students in the College of Education and other units on campus. Additional program responsibilities include oversight of the Early Head Start program, Campus Child Care Connections and the Family Care Contract Network. The Director assures compliance with all applicable local, state and federal regulations including but not limited to the Head Start Performance Standards, Washoe County & Nevada Regulations for Child Care Facilities, Nevada Department of Education Private Schools Licensure, and the National Association for the Education of Young Children Academy for Early Childhood Accreditation. The Director provides direction and oversight in personnel administration, staff supervision, fiscal administration, facility management and program administration. The incumbent participates in college decisions and on college and university committees. The position is a community liaison participating in numerous outreach programs for children and families. The Director reports to the Dean, College of Education. 2. List the major responsibilities, including percentage of time devoted to each. Level of Freedom: The individual provides leadership in the performance of the responsibilities of the position. Makes decisions to insure the success and credibility of the Center’s work and the reputation of UNR. The individual works closely with the Dean on decisions associated with the position, but must work independently, with initiative, and with high latitude in decision-making. Impact: The Director not only impacts the quality of instruction for the unit, but also impacts students and faculty using the Center for research and teaching in the College of Education and departments including Psychology, Social Work, Education and Speech Pathology. The Director also strongly influences the quality of child care services offered by the Center to faculty, staff, students, and community members for their young children and the resultant impact on the children’s education and well-being. This position is very visible to the public and therefore has a direct impact on the perception of the university and its reputation. 4.
