Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. Attach an organizational chart with positions, ranges, and names for the division which reflects the position in it as well as those supervised in the department. The Master Teacher guides the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Child and Family Research Center (CFRC) kindergarten/first grade program. The Master Teacher is responsible for providing an educational program that meets the Nevada standards for kindergarten and first grade in a private school. The class serves as a model in the community for a full day, mixed grade grouping. The Master Teacher supports the educational efforts of the department and the University by supervising practicum students and student interns in the classroom. The Master Teacher reports to the Assistant Director, CFRC. 2. List the major responsibilities, including percentage of time devoted to each. Level of Freedom: As a model teacher, the Master Teacher is responsible for demonstrating and reinforcing appropriate teaching techniques which reflect the program’s philosophy and are based on current research. The position is very visible to the public through interaction with students, faculty, staff, and parents and their children. The individual works closely with the Director on decisions associated with the position, but must work independently, with initiative, and with some latitude in decision-making. Position Description – Master Teacher Page 3 Impact: Students working under the Master Teacher’s direction will, in turn, use what they have learned in the larger community where they will be viewed as products of this University and this program. The work of the individual impacts the quality of instruction to students within the unit. The Master Teacher influences the quality of primary education for students and parents for their young children and the resultant impact on the children’s education and well-being. This position is visible to the public and therefore has a direct impact on the perception of the Center and its reputation. 4.
