Have a wonderful spring break!

Reading- Our readers began working on their poetry unit this past week. We
began the unit by comparing poetry to the other genres that we have
studied (fiction and nonfiction). The students made some excellent
comparisons! We also learned about how poets use sensory details to help
deepen the readers’ understanding of the poem When you’re reading with
your child, have them identify sensory details to support them in this area.
Math- Our mathematicians have been working hard to gain a deeper
understanding of fractions. We reviewed identifying fractions using the area
model and a number line. The mathematicians then learned what an
equivalent fraction is and how to identify them!
Writing- The writers in room 208 are finishing up their fictional writing pieces!
They are planning where to put the words and pictures on their page and
ensuring that their book flows the way they intended it to! They are eager
to share their final copy with you.
Science and Social Studies- Our scientists began their unit on space this
week. We have been reading different books about space so they can
begin to think about a possible research topic for the coming weeks.
