Have a wonderful weekend! 
Reading- The poets in our class are continuing to analyze poetry. They have
been using sensory details and word detective strategies to decode the
meaning of an unknown word. They’ve learned how to break poems down
into smaller chunks and rereading the poem to help deepen their
comprehension of what they read.
Math- Our mathematicians have been working very hard with fractions
these past few weeks. They have been identifying equivalent fractions and
applying what they know about fractions to solve real life problems. We will
continue work with fractions that are higher than 1 for the next week.
The children are encouraged to continue drawing numbers line when they’re
struggling with a problem. This will help them visualize the location of the
fractions they are working with.
Writing- Our writers have been working extremely hard on their rough drafts
of their personal narrative. We will continue working on this through the end
of the school year. They are eager to begin their final copies of their books!

Science and Social Studies- As you know, our scientists are conducting their
own research on a Space topic that they have chosen themselves. They
are SO excited about this project. They are taking complete control of this
project. It is their choice if they want to use a PowerPoint, poster, butcher
paper, or a diorama to present their information to the class. While I am
able to provide some of the supplies, they may be asking for a few extras.
What you choose to provide is completely up to you! They won’t lose points if
they don’t have outside supplies. 
Growth Mindset Words of the Month:
Brain- an organ of soft nervous tissue contained in the skull of vertebrates,
functioning as the coordinating center of sensation and intellectual and
nervous activity
Neurons-a cell that carries messages between the brain and other parts of
the body and that is the basic unit of the nervous system
Neuroplasticity-the capacity of the nervous system to develop new neuronal
connections/pathways as an effect of environmental, behavioral, and neural
changes
Please use these growth mindset words with your child at home. 
