Job Summary: Responsible for assisting and monitoring library patrons and staff with the operations of
the library’s computer hardware, software, and peripherals.

Maintain library’s hardware and software. Install and configure applications and
systems software.

Troubleshoot and fix software and hardware problems.

3.
Assist library patrons and staff with operation of computer hardware and
peripherals, monitor computer area, and assist students, community users and
staff on use of new software.

Initiate and track work orders. Maintain computer equipment inventories.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Associate’s Degree or equivalent
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) Years
SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1.
Skills/Abilities:
• Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and community members
• Ability to communicate effectively both oral and written
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to troubleshoot, install, and maintain microcomputer software/hardware in a client
server computing environment.
2.
Equipment Used: Networked personal computers, file servers, print servers and related
peripherals as well as other equipment associated with a library environment (e.g. typewriter,
copier, fax, and multi-line telephone).

Software Used: A variety of software including library catalog, internet, e-mail,
system/application security, antivirus protection, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and
presentation software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Duties require moderate physical effort in working with medium-weight (up to 50 lbs.) materials.
Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, and other faculties due to long periods of
standing, sitting, and repetitive motion.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
Alternative or combined skills in understanding or influencing people are important in achieving
job objectives, causing action, understanding others, or changing behavior; and, skills of
assertiveness, as well as sensitivity to the point of view of others.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Job is performed in library setting or comparable working area with frequent distractions such as
noise and interruptions.
