Housing and Intake Specialist

Definition:
Housing and Intake Specialist provides screening, assessment, intake and referrals for Pathways’
housing programs; ensures compliance for various grants and contracts; and provides support for
rapid re-housing program including case management and housing inspections. The responsibilities
for this position include those listed below. They may shift as funding and other priorities shift.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Intake for housing programs
a. Provides screening, standardized assessment and intake for each client
b. Conduct crisis and risk assessments in consultation with supervisor and case managers
c. Performs the majority of new client HMIS data entry and reporting support for the housing
programs
d. Maintain documentation standards
e. Assists with client follow up
2. Rapid re-housing support
a. Assists in case management
b. Completes housing inspections
3. Other duties as assigned
Contacts and Relationships:
Reports to Pathways of Hope’s Program Manager and interacts with Case Managers, Housing and
Community Engagement Manager, Development and Compliance Specialist, Outreach Coordinator,
Resident Manager, guests, partner and government agencies.
Qualification Guidelines:
This position requires a college degree. Spanish highly recommended.
Knowledge of:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook
• HMIS (Homeless Management Information System) or other client tracking system
Ability to:
• Work flexible schedule including nights and weekends
• Work effectively with a diverse population
• Plan, organize and prioritize duties
• Speak effectively before small groups
• Mediate conflicts with residents
• Perform crisis intervention as needed
• Communicate effectively over the telephone and clearly communicate information and instructions
verbally and in written form
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, Board members,
volunteers, residents and vendors
