POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: EXTENDED TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Manger Manager, Financial Aid – Intake and Processing Exempt CATEGORY: Professional GRADE: C JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the management and coordination of Student Financial Aid Intake and Processing. Coordinate all activities through policies and procedures consistent with rules and regulations established by federal and state agencies and private donors. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 30% 1. Manage and coordinate customer service functions performed by financial Aid Intake staff. Evaluate training needs and improvements of the Intake processes. Ensure campus financial aid offices are appropriately staffed and supplied for efficient and effective operation. 2. Manage and coordinate Processing staff work assignments. Conduct workshops and meetings designed to improve overall efficiency. Make recommendations for improvements and modifications to daily operations. 30% 3. Assist students in resolution of financial aid problems. Serve as a resource to other office staff members, college departments and the community. 10% 4. Monitor program regulatory changes that affect the federal, state and institutional financial aid. Recommend and implement changes to ensure compliance. 10% 5. Provide personnel management direction and guidance to staff, including orientation, performance appraisal, coaching, and personal/professional development. 10% 6. Participate in Financial Aid Outreach activities. 5% 7. Effective: 6/1/11 Page 1 of 4 ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree. EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years related experience. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of current financial aid regulations. Must have t he ability to devise and/or adapt procedures/policies to changing organizational needs. Must also be able to anticipate problems and take appropriate action to meet needs or prevent problems from occurring, as well as organize, direct and coordinate functions and tasks within a limited time frame. Must possess excellent customer service skills. Excellent communications skills both oral and written. 2. Equipment Used: Personal Computer and other equipment associated with an office environment. 3. Software Used: Integrated administrative software (e.g. Banner), and a variety of, word processing, database, e-mail, and presentation software.
