JOB SUMMARY: Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of laboratory facility services and
laboratory materials, equipment and supplies inventory, which maintain and support a wide variety of
laboratories for a single discipline/division. Provide support to faculty, staff and student assistance.

1.
Provide support to faculty through instructional assistance; assist students with
course and/or laboratory assignments. Assist in preparation of instructional
materials for lectures and/or labs components to include design and maintain the
lab components for the discipline.

Coordinate with instructional leadership to ensure proper academic and technical
support is available to students and faculty. Participate in the evaluation,
selection, and implementation of texts, specialized software/programs and other
learning materials.

3.
Provide orientation and support to faculty, staff, students, and community in use of
the laboratory facilities, equipment, and supplies. Supervise the activities of
students, faculty, and staff to ensure a safe learning environment.

Provide work direction/supervision to assigned staff. Responsible for training and
evaluating assigned staff in accordance with the objectives of the programs.

5.
Recommend short and long term goals/objectives and/or operating
policies/procedures. Develop budget recommendations and coordinate lab
activities within approved budget.

Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure good working order. May
perform routine repair and maintenance. Develop and maintain an inventory
system for instructional materials and equipment, including computer hardware
and software.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree.
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years related experience.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Skills/Abilities:
 Strong Interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate both oral and
written;
 Familiarity with computer hardware and software equipment assigned in a laboratory
setting in order to effectively diagnose problems;
 Ability to provide strong leadership for program effectiveness and enhancement of
services;
 Knowledge of technical support process and protocol and IT quality control
processes;
 Ability to effectively use organizational and planning skills with attention to detail
and follow through;
 Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships;
 Ability to work in a diverse environment and be sensitive to issues of diversity and
inclusion.
 When applicable to discipline; knowledge in preparing chemical solutions and
reagents for chemistry experiments and disposal of the chemical waste generated in
the laboratory.
 When applicable to discipline; familiarity with hazardous properties of chemical
substances for storage purposes.

Equipment Used: Personal Computer and related equipment found in laboratory; may
include; analytical balances, phMeters, spectrophotometers, centriguges, melting point
apparatus, multi meters, and specialized glassware.
3.
Software Used: A variety of spreadsheet, word-processing, database, e-mail, and presentation
software.

balance and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds,
regularly/frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50
pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color
vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
