POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Graphics Designer Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Professional C JOB SUMMARY: Coordinate and provide graphic design services for all district publications. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 40% 1. Consult with and assess client needs; create graphic designs and provide graphic services for all college publications, for both print and online/web media for internal and external needs. Including cyber class schedules, catalogs, posters, brochures, books, forms and external media, such as newspaper ads, cinema ads and billboards. 2. Coordinate, evaluate, schedule and complete graphic design print and online/web services within requested timelines. 25% 3. Coordinate the work of outsourced materials, design and production with external printers and web/online cyber services. 10% 4. Proof all design work; make corrections as needed; ensure accuracy, completeness and technical reproduction of completed work in print and online. 10% 5. Proof typesetting of design work; provide limited training and guidance to parttime employees and student interns. 5% 6. Maintain computer equipment, and supply inventory. 5% 7. Skills/Abilities: Continually produce innovative graphic ideas and artistic images to promote/market the college, to the El Paso Community and our students. 2. Equipment Used: Personal Computer, fax, telephone, copier, and other equipment associated with graphic design. 3. Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and presentation software in addition to programs specific to graphic design (Creative Suite, Adobe, Acrobat, Pagemaker, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, AVsforU, Zmags etc.) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
