POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Popular Education Lead Facilitator Non-Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Classified E JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for facilitating delivery of instructional services by Community Education Program and overseeing all processes and procedures of critical pedagogy and popular education for the Community Education programs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 45% 1. Responsible for facilitating all processes, procedures and the delivery of instructional services of the Community Education programs throughout the El Paso County and surrounding area; provide critical pedagogy orientation to tutors; resolves tutor-“student group” problems in popular education context. 2. Assess student needs and reports status to coordinator; conduct student follow ups. 15% 3. Assist students with special problems and make referrals as appropriate. 10% 4. Facilitate the pre-testing, pre-orienting, scheduling students for ATB, and new student orientation at on & off-campus sites. 10% 5. Advise coordinator regarding appropriateness and content of instructional materials. 10% 6. Conduct recruitment of students in a variety of settings to include, housing complexes, community centers and parent-teacher organizations. 5% 7. Maintain professional development in a constantly changing field. 5% REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Instructional Manager, Community Education Program SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides work direction to staff assigned. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Associates degree EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years experience. Page 1 of 2 SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Strong interpersonal skills and organizational skills; knowledge of community resources and critical pedagogy; problems solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 2. Equipment Used: Personal Computer, fax, telephone, copier, and other equipment associated with an office environment. 3. Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and presentation software. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties require little physical effort in work with light (up to 10lbs), easy to handle materials. Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties due to long periods of standing, sitting, and/or repetitive motion. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Alternative or combined skills in understanding, counseling, and/or influencing people are important in achieving job objectives, causing action, understanding others, or changing behavior; and, skills of persuasiveness or assertiveness, as well as sensitivity to the point of view of others.
