POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Senior Technical Resource Advisor Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Professional F (TS) JOB SUMMARY: Provide district-wide technical expertise in the design and development of instructional training material multimedia and software applications. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Provide technical training and assistance to EPCC administrators, staff and faculty on software and associated equipment used in their daily work; training lab technicians, lab assistants and others in the use of various software used by students; training development responsibilities include assessment of training needs, curriculum development, user training materials, instructor guides, lesson plans, training files, skills assessment testing, reference guides and customized templates; evaluate training facilities, analyze and prepare for equipment needs; provide classroom instruction or coordinate, recruitment, train and schedule faculty to conduct the courses. YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 25% 2. Provide technical guidance to faculty and/or staff in a team development of multimedia computer-based training applications and projects; provide technical expertise to personnel who are using the district-wide Technical Research Center to conduct research activities, especially in the areas of web research and mainframe data extraction; provide referrals to other areas such as Institutional Research, committees and/or task forces, and Information Technology as appropriate. 25% 3. Research, schedule, coordinate and publicize teleconferences from a wide variety of regional and national sources serving administrators, staff, faculty, the Board of Trustees and the El Paso community. 10% 4. Provide academic course developers with design expertise for instructional courses especially in the areas of on-line or distance education course materials; serve as a resource for technology-related instructional projects in coordination with specific instructional departments. 10% 5. Provide leadership in the establishment of user groups for the most commonly used site-licensed institutional software (WordPerfect, MS Word, Presentations, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, etc); possess an indepth expert knowledge of a wide variety of software packages in order to train users to acceptable proficiency standards. 10% Approved: 9/1/94 Format Updated: 2/23/04 Page 1 of 1 6. Design, prepare and maintain the District’s Technology Research Center’s Web pages. 10% 7. Research, analyze, evaluate and recommend new technology & software for use in the Technical Research Center. 5% 8. Serve as an administrative liaison to the Information Coordinating Council; District Web Advisory committees; Administrative Software Implementation committees and other committees as assigned. 5% REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Director, Instructional Support Services SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide work direction to assigned staff. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years experience. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Strong analytical skills; detailed oriented; ability to process and analyze information accurately; strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 2. Equipment Used: Personal Computer and other equipment associated with an office environment. 3. Software Used: A variety of spreadsheet, word-processing, database, e-mail, and presentation software. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties require little physical effort in work with light (up to 10lbs), easy to handle materials. Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties due to long periods of standing, sitting, and/or repetitive motion. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Alternative or combined skills in understanding, directing, and/or influencing people are important in achieving job objectives, causing action, understanding others, or changing behavior; and, skills of persuasiveness or assertiveness, as well as sensitivity to the point of view of others.
