JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for facilitating tutorial process and procedures in the Community
Education Program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Facilitate all tutorial processes and procedures in the Literacy Center (i.e.

provide orientation to tutors, resolve tutor-student problems, schedule tutorial
hours and instructional sites, identify instructional sites, oversee tutors’
delivery of services and completion of Literacy Assessment System.

Assist students with special problems and make referrals.

Pre-test, pre-orient, schedule students for ATB and new student orientation at
off-campus sites.

4.
Advise coordinator regarding appropriateness and content of instructional
materials.

5.
Assess student needs and report status to the coordinator.

6.
Conduct student follow-ups for no-shows.

7.
Conduct recruitment.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide work direction to assigned staff.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Associate’s degree
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years experience.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1.
Skills/Abilities: Computer literate; good organizational and communications skills and
ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Equipment Used: Personal Computer, fax, telephone, copier, and other equipment
associated with an office environment.

Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and
presentation software.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Duties require little physical effort in work with light (up to 10lbs), easy to handle materials.
Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties due to long periods of
standing, sitting, and/or repetitive motion.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Alternative or combined skills in understanding, counseling, and/or influencing people are
important in achieving job objectives, causing action, understanding others, or changing behavior;
and, skills of persuasiveness or assertiveness, as well as sensitivity to the point of view of others.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Job is performed in general office or comparable working area with occasional distractions such as
noise, interruptions, or congested work areas with exposure to some disagreeable elements.
