Mentor Development
Curriculum
In the Mentor Development/Train the Trainer model, Eduprise personnel train
client support staff to train instructors to develop their own web-enhanced or
online courses. The target population includes lead instructors, instructional
designers/technologist, and tech support.
We have found that in order for this model to be effective, individuals should
meet basic pre-requisites. These pre-requisites include:
 Mouse skills
 Windows/Desktop Use
 Basic Word-processing skills
 Effectively use the institution’s email system
 Basics of browser use
 Knowledge of basic HTML
Instructional Modules (6 total days)
Basic Tools Training I (WebCT)
2 days
Topics Include:
 WebCT Overview (Sample Courses, Critical Tools)
 Student Management and Tracking
 Path Building and File Handing
 Assessment (Quiz, Survey, and Grading)
 Collaboration and Communication (Bulletin Board, Whiteboard, Chat)
 Basic ethics (intellectual property)
 Basic online pedagogy
 Overview of Instructional Design Materials and Forms
 How to help students
 Procedures
Basic Train the Trainer Training I
1 day
Topics Include:
 How to train (adult learning piece, training faculty in technology)
 How to do consults (case study)
 Curriculum development (student and instructor pre-reqs, skills survey,
competencies, suggestions about how to develop training and faculty
development plans, training reports and evaluation.




Basic multimedia
Training resources
Other issues (intellectual property/copyright, helping students, and ethical
issues).
Project issues (with client account manager)
Course Development Consults (one-on-one or small group)
1-2 days, depending on number of participants/groups
1 hr. per consultation
Individual Consultation includes:
 Defining course objectives
 Refining content
 Addressing copyright concerns
 Discussing specific instructional strategies that can be used
 Suggesting course development schedule/timeline
