JOB SUMMARY: Supervise the operations of the laboratory facility and materials storeroom
which support a wide variety of laboratory and field programs district-wide for a single discipline
or division.

1. Supervise and provide orientation to students, faculty, and staff in the
use of laboratory facilities, equipment, and supplies to ensure a safe
learning environment. Provide work direction and supervision to any
assigned part-time or work study staff; provide support to faculty.

2. Participate in the evaluation and selection of text books and other
learning materials; assist in the preparation of instructional materials for
lectures and labs. Administer and grade laboratory examinations and
exercises and maintain student information; assist students with course
or laboratory assignments. Coordinate with Instructional Coordinator
to ensure proper academic and technical support is available to students
and faculty.

3. Order and receive materials, equipment, and supplies; develop and
maintain an inventory system for instructional materials, equipment,
and supplies. Ensure equipment is in good working order; perform
routine repair and maintenance.

4. Participate in field trips and act as the coordinator for student activities
relating to discipline. Recommend short and long term goals/objectives
and operating policies and procedures. Develop budget
recommendations and conduct lab activities within approved budget.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Director of Continuing Education for Health
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide work direction to personnel assigned to
laboratory.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Associates Degree or equivalent preferred
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years in EMT teaching, lab, and/or field experience.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES: EMT-Intermediate, Drivers License, Eligible for
CPR/First Aid Instructor Certification and EMT Instructor/Examiner Certification.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Able to operate in a laboratory and office
environment, ability to track equipment at various sites.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to lift 50 pounds, stand, stoop, bend, squat, sit
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Skills of persuasiveness or assertiveness, as well as, sensitivity to the other person’s
point of view are often required to influence behavior, change an opinion, turn a situation
around, cause action, or understanding in others. This level of interpersonal skills is
required in positions, which regularly interact with others, through personal contact or
presentations, within the organization or members in the community.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Job is performed in classroom, laboratory, or comparable working area with many and
frequent distractions such as noise, interruptions, or congested work areas with exposure
to some disagreeable elements. Weekend and evening hours are expected.
