POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Default Prevention Specialist Non Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Classified E Job Summary: Assist with overall coordination of Student Loan Program to include processing of loan applications and conducting Entrance/Exit Counseling. Oversee default prevention and debt management efforts tracking withdrawals, graduation dates and verifying enrollment status. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 1. Responsible for monitoring default aversion efforts for the District. Track withdrawals and graduation for current borrowers in order to fulfill exit counseling requirements. 40% 2. Assist in loan process, to include Entrance and Exit Loan Counseling Sessions, loan certification. 25% 3. Communicate effectively and on a timely basis with student borrowers, lender services and guarantee agencies concerning application status, enrollment status, and default aversion information. 20% 4. Provide information to current and prospective student borrowers on all aspects of the financial aid process. 5% 5. Attend financial aid training and workshops to keep abreast of changes in federal law and procedures. Assist in implementation of changes in loan policies per federal regulations. 5% 6.
