POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: CSD Testing Specialist Non-Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Classified D JOB SUMMARY: Provides non-routine academic/counseling information to students, along with assessment and referral support services. Provide support and assistance to students with disabilities in testing/support service information. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Provide information, including class note taking/testing, sign language, reading and translation services, routine testing and admission information and counseling referral services. 2. YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 65% Perform routine assessment of student’s academic and support services needs; monitor student’s academic and/or learning activity progress; advise student of deficiencies and help establish corrective plan for completion. 3. Answer phones, schedule appointments, greet students, respond to questions and refer students to other college offices and/or support services; distribute informational materials to faculty, staff, students, etc. 4. Record, track and maintain related student records, logs and databases(s); prepare forms and reports, as required; may assist with preparation of statistical data for grants. Skills/Abilities: Able to work well with disabled students, able to work well under stressful situations, must be able to accommodate students based on their particular disability or needs, have strong organizational skills and able to work well with others. 2. Equipment Used: CC TV, four track records for the blind, Personal Computers, magnifiers, and calculators. 3. Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and presentation software. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties require little physical effort in work with light (up to 10lbs), easy to handle materials. Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties due to long periods of standing, sitting, and/or repetitive motion. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Alternative or combined skills in understanding, counseling, and/or influencing people are important in achieving job objectives, causing action, understanding others, or changing behavior; and, skills of persuasiveness or assertiveness, as well as sensitivity to the point of view of others. WORKING CONDITIONS: Job is performed in general office or comparable working area with occasional distractions such as noise, interruptions, or congested work areas with exposure to some disagreeable elements.
