POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: EXTENDED TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Project Director Project Director, Architecture STEM Exempt CATEGORY: Administrative GRADE: D JOB SUMMARY: The Project Director will oversee and facilitate development of an innovative Architecture Program in El Paso, Texas, including the construction of a new building and/or the renovation of a historic building near the city’s downtown area which will be used to house the Program. The director will also oversee a 2+2 articulation between El Paso Community College and Texas Tech University College of Architecture. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION This position is funded by a U.S. Department of Education HSI STEM and Articulation Grant. The Hispanic-Serving Institutions STEM and Articulation programs will provide grants to assist HispanicServing institutions (HSIs) to develop and carry out activities to improve and expand their capacity to serve Hispanic and other low-income students in attaining degrees in the fields of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics and to develop model transfer and articulation agreements between 2-year Hispanic-serving institutions and 4-year institutions in such fields. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 25% 1. Initiate and coordinate the planning, development, scheduling, implementation, evaluation and supervision of all project activities for a "2+2 Articulation" between EPCC and Texas Tech. 2. Direct and oversee large facility design and construction project management scoping through design phases (scope, bidding, construction, safety, quality, schedule, innovation, and cost). Work in conjunction with Facility Planning and Construction during pre-construction and construction to ensure compliance with the Grant's yearly phases and budget. 20% 3. Report project status and performance data to the Department of Education as required. 10% 4. Responsible for the strategic planning and operational management of the project. Establish a work plan and staffing for each phase of the project. Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure project proceeds as scheduled and within prescribed budget. 10% 5. Review and recommend policies and procedures in adherence with federal and state law, and regulations including those in the HSI STEM Grant agreement through the appropriate decision making channels. 10% 7. Promote the 2+2 Articulation Program at conferences and meetings. Prepare materials and exhibition for NAAB-accreditation and to establish program as a state and national model. 10% 8. Other duties as assigned. 5% REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Dean of Architecture, Arts, Math and Science. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct supervision of assigned staff. BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES: Project Budget. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Master’s degree in Architecture. EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years experience teaching in a NAAB-accredited Architecture program at the graduate level. CERTIFICATION/LICENSURES: Architectural registration or undergoing IDP process. Licensed Architect preferred. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1.
