POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Director, Student Success Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Administrative D JOB SUMMARY: Provide effective direction and leadership appropriate to the student success effort. Direct and oversee district-wide programs designed to increase retention, persistence, graduation rates, and transfer of EPCC students. Provide leadership, coordination, strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of collaborative partnerships and activities for student success. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Develop, coordinate, and implement the assessment of an effective retention YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 25% program for the District, especially for at-risk students. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to promote and implement retention policies equitably and consistently. Conduct periodic formal and informal assessments to determine the quality of retention initiatives. 2. Develop a strategic plan and oversee the operational management of the department. Manage departmental budget and personnel. Prepare, develop, and monitor grant submissions. Stay abreast of current laws, administrative rulings and state the requirements related to special populations and student success initiatives. 20% 3. Provide oversight, planning, coordination, supervision and evaluation of assigned centers, instructional labs and student support services. Develop a plan for ongoing staff development and training in keeping with established national standards and best practices. Work with other administrators in matters related to success initiatives, student effectiveness, retention, persistence, and completion. Coordinate department student support services with instructional activities. 20% 4. Provide leadership to advance student success results by providing coordination of services to developmental education by functioning as the administrative liaison to the Developmental Council, the Developmental Education English and Developmental Math and the Reading Standing Committee. 15% 5. Serve as a resource to the Instructional Leadership team to provide information and coordination of district wide student success and retention efforts. Chair taskforces and committees related to student success and retention efforts. 10% 6. Serve as a liaison with Deans, faculty, staff, administrators, area colleges/universities, high schools, and the community on matters related to student success. 5% 7. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Skills/Abilities: Must possess the skill and ability to manage personnel and operations of a large department; Must have strong interpersonal skills, effective communication and problem solving skills for a variety of circumstances. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations; Ability to research and apply for grants that support the College’s Student Success Initiative; Must have effective organizational and planning skills with ability to multi-task; Must be able to develop and cultivate business relationships; Ability to establish accountability measures for department programs in keeping with best practice guidelines that indicate student success impact; Knowledge of equipment and software utilized to enhance student knowledge by supporting instructional goals and objectives.
