This project will widen Freedom Drive from two lanes to four from I-85 (Edgewood Road/Bradford Drive) to Lundy Lane, just north of Toddville Road. Project amenities will include a median, sidewalks, planting strips, storm water improvements, bicycle lanes and street lighting. Funding for the $27.5 million project was included in transportation bonds approved by voters. Upon completion, this project will provide safer travel for all modes of transportation including motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists and transit. What’s Next City Council awarded the contract to Blythe Construction on January 9, 2012. Construction is currently underway and will take about 20 months. Our goal during the construction of the project is to minimize impacts to businesses and commuting citizens. Highlighted in the map (right) is the project limits.
