Project Features The Rea Road Widening Project will widen Rea Road from Highway 51 to Colony Road to a median-divided street with one travel lane in each direction with sidewalks, bicycle lanes and planting strips. This project will improve sight distance along Rea Road and better accommodate motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists. For more information epm.charmeck.org The bid phase is underway and includes prequalifying contractors to insure the low bidder has the resources and experience to perform the work. City Council award is required for final construction contract approval. Project Status Utility relocations are underway. The relocation of Time Warner’s overhead cable will resume after the first of the year. Piedmont Natural Gas relocation work has slowed as underground rock was encountered during the installation of the new 8-inch gas line. This work will continue and be completed before the roadway construction starts in spring 2012. Both utilities do not anticipate any disruptions of service to your home during this work.
