Statesville Road Widening Project
From Starita Road to Sunset Road
Project Features
The Statesville Road Widening Project will improve safety, accessibility and
traffic flow, providing safer travel for all modes of transportation including
motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists.
This project will widen Statesville Road from Starita Road to Sunset Road to
a four-lane, median-divided roadway.
• Signage will help motorists and pedestrians navigate constructionrelated changes to traffic flow, driveway access, pedestrian walkways
and bus stops.

• Local media will be given information on the progress, current
impacts and what to expect in the near future.
Project amenities will include sidewalks, bicycle lanes, planting strips and
landscaping. New storm drainage, water and sewer improvements will also
be included as part of the project.
Funding for the $35 million project was included in the 2008 transportation
bonds approved by voters. Funding for water and sewer reliability
improvements represents a reinvestment of water and sewer rates.
What’s Next
City Council awarded the contract to Blythe Development on March 26,
2012. Construction will begin in June and will take about 26 months.
Our goal during the construction of the project is to minimize
impacts to businesses, residents and commuting citizens. Two
lanes of traffic will be maintained during peak hours of traffic (7-9
am and 5-7 pm). Highlighted in the map (right) is the project limits.
