NEWSLETTER Issue 3 January, 2003 IBM comes to NeSC On January 22nd, Dr Carol Kovac, General Manager of IBM Life Sciences, will be visiting NeSC for a series of presentations on Bioinformatics, the work that has been done in this field at Edinburgh and plans for a Bioinformatics Centre. Dr Kovac's organisation brings together IBM strengths in such areas as e-business, supercomputing, data and storage management, data mining and knowledge management, as well as IBM's world-renowned research expertise in computational biology and parallel computing to deliver leading edge solutions for life sciences. It is anticipated that the course will be repeated in March to allow all those who are interested to take part. NeSC opens up NeSC will be holding its first Open Day for all interested people from the university and th associated institutions, on 17 January. The event will begin at 2pm in the Newhaven Lecture Theatre. The eDIKT team will shortly be moving into newly-refurbished offices in Old College. Redecoration is in its final phases, with furniture and new phones yet to be installed.
