NEWSLETTER Issue 2 December, 2002 Innovator of the Year: Prof Malcolm Atkinson Professor Malcolm Atkinson Director of the National e-Science Centre, (Professor, Department of Computing Science, University of Glasgow and Division of Informatics, University of Edinburgh) was named Innovator of the Year 2002 at the prestigious Saint Andrews Day Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland Awards held in Edinburgh last month. Professor Atkinson was nominated for his role in the significant progress of Grid Research in the UK. We are currently planning the refurbishment of the premises. NeSC opens up NeSC will be holding its first Open Day for all interested people on 17th January. Edinburgh Fire NeSC is unaffected by the recent fire, thankyou to all who expressed concern. Our sympathies go to the Division of Informatics who have suffered severe disruption. November saw Ms Aileen Fleming, Brian Hills and Mr. Alan Gray all join the eDIKT project team as software programmers, we hope they all find themselves at home here.
