CURRICULUM A N D INSTRUCTION
3.1
Presentation cf Biological Audio-Tutorial System Manual
As a result o f the released time projects, an experimental Biology Manual
has been w r i t t e n and illustrctcd by Messrs. Arnold Greer, Robert, G i l l e s p i e , David
C a m p b e l l , and Miss Louiso Pc-crdon— a l l of The Junior College District staff. M r .
Garth B e l l , also of the staff, was responsible for the art work and supervision of the
layout.
This Biological Audio-Tutorial System Manual is the first such student hand-
book ever t o be written for Biology laboratory instruction.
Mr. Greer presented and
explained i n d e t a i l the use of this manual and each of the instructors present commented
on the student reaction to this experimental program.
A general discussion followed i n v o l v i n g Board members and M r . Greer.
Mrs. Bastian thanked this group for their very interesting report and commended them
on this creative experimentel teaching method.
5.
BUSINESS A N D FINANCE
5.1
Approval of Contracts between JCD and Ferguson-Florissant
School District R-2
The President of the District recommended approval by the Board of Trustees
of two contracts for the use of gymnasium f a c i l i t i e s at McCluor High School, as
provided b y the Ferguson-Ficrissant School District R-2.
Those f a c i l i t i e s would be
used for basketball practice, home games, intramurai basketball p r a c t i c e , and
i n t c r - c o l l e g i a t o games for the Florissant V a l l e y Campus.
Whereupon, after due
discussion, on motion by M r , Ruffin, seconded by M r . Stewart, and with the aye
vote o f a l l members o f the Beard, i t was
RESOLVED, That the Board o f Trustees approve and docs hereby approve
and authorize the execution of two separate agreements w i t h the Fergu&onFlorissant School District R-2 for tho use of McCluer High School gymnasium
f a c i l i t i e s at a cost end under the provisions of the contracts attached hereto,
and by reference inccrporatcd h e r o i n .

Ratification of A n Order To M c M u l l e n Printing Company
The President of the District recommended ratification of the awarding of

order for printing 10,000 brochures to M c M u l l e n Printing Company.
Dr. Cosand
explained the reason the order had previously been awarded was to insure the printing
of the brochures prior to the bond campaign for distribution during the campaign.

Dr. Cosand reported that the low bidder for the finish hardware at the bid

opening of November 16, 1965 was Golterman & Sabo, Inc. at a bid of $ 2 4 , 6 7 2 . 0 0 .

and directed to take the actions necessary to effectuate the inclusion of

5.4
Acceptance of Bid and Awarding of Order to Ace Maintenance & Supply C o .
The President of the District recommended the acceptance of a bid end
awarding of an order to Ace Maintenance & Supply Company for f u l l - t i m e custodial
services for the Forest Park Administration Building at 3185 Gravois from 6:00 a . m .
until 2:30 a . m . w i t h a half hour for l u n c h , on a five day a week basis.

RESOLVED, That the Board of Trustees of The Junior College District
of St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri accept the b i d and award en
order to Ace Maintenance & Supply Company to provide the custodial
services a t the Forest Park Administration Building on a five day a week
basis from 6:00 a . m . u n t i l 2:30 a . m . for a cost of $ 3 1 8 . 0 0 , not to include
supplies.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Board of Trustees hereby authorizes the
President of the Board on behalf of the District, to enter into an agreement
with the Ace Maintenance & Supply Company on the terms and conditions
of its b i d p r o v i d e d , however, that said agreement shall be on a month-tomonth basis, shall be terminable by the District w i t h f o r t y - e i g h t hours written
notice, and a l l services provided by Ace Maintenance & Supply Company shall
at all times meet a l l reasonable requirements set forth by the Campus Director
of the Forest Park Community C o l l e g e .

Bond Issue Campaign Report
Mrs. Dolores Tygard gave an overall review of the bond issue campaign.
The strong support and cooperation the District received from all commurJcorion media
is something that lias never happened i n the history of St. Louis, and the District

A general discussion ensued a-ong all Board mombors regarding a suitable

Board President, Mrs. Joseph C. Basticn, to select a suitable memento expressing the

appreciation of The Junior College District and the Board of Trustees for the un-

sacrificing and dedicated leadership given to the District by Dr. Charles Thomas,
