The BC School of Theology and Ministry will be using the Lannon Chapel for masses and
prayer services at that time. Parishioners are welcome to attend. There will be a 5:30
Liturgy as usual on weekdays. Also, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will be cancelled
until after Labor Day, as of June 26th.
ARRUPE--ASSISTING REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT - USING PARISH ENERGIES
WORLD REFUGEE DAY AT-THE-DOOR C OLLECTION WEEKEND OF JUNE 21
Mark World Refugee Day on June 20th by supporting refugees resettling in the Boston area as well as those abroad.
ARRUPE will collect contributions to help resettle newcomers in the Archdiocese of Boston as well as fund summer
programs for displaced Iraqi youth served by the Jesuit Center in Amman, Jordan. Please be generous. Your
support will make summer enrichment and education opportunities possible for refugee children in the Middle
East and make new homes more comfortable for refugee families making new lives here.
TRANSITIONS: NETWORKING, JOB SEARCH ASSISTANCE AND SPIRITUAL SUPPORT FOR THOSE SEEKING NEW
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Due to renovations in the lower church, the Parish Transitions Group, which meets weekly on Wednesdays after
the 12:15 Mass, will meet in the parish offices next door in the interim. Lunch still provided! All are welcome.
PASTA AND PRAYER Looking for a good way to end the day? Why not try prayerful conversation with fellow
parishoners, around the dinner table? The last installment of Pasta and Prayer will be held on June 18th from 6:30 8:30 PM in the Friary Room. You must pre-register to attend. The evening's topic is the feast of Christ the King. This is
a wonderful and relaxed opportunity for you to contribute to the parish's spiritual life, not to mention your own.
Discussion points will be brought to the Liturgy and the Arts and Environment Commissions for consideration as
they plan the liturgical celebration. Contact Amy Larson at 781-929-1835 by June 16th to register.
ELDER VILLAGE AT ST. ANNE’S PARISH IN JAMAICA FUNDRAISER JUNE 27&28
Fr. Peter McIsaac, SJ has had 6 new small homes for formerly homeless senior parishioners built on a vacant lot
next to St. Anne’s, our sister parish. A local donor has committed to paying utilities and he has secured appliances
for the common kitchen. We will be holding an at-the-door collection to help to furnish the homes – 6 mattresses,
leg bases, dressers and bedside tables for only $2,859 US! Thank you in advance for your generosity.
FAITH FORMATION
REGISTRATION FOR 2009 – 2010
St. Ignatius Faith Formation will begin the registration process for the 2009 – 2010 academic year. Registration will
begin on June 7 and will continue throughout the summer. As usual, the earlier you register, the easier it is for our
office. Because we are grateful when you register early, we will ask for a “pre-registration” donation of $200 per
family. After September 20, our registration fee will be $250 per family.
How to register:
Via Email
An electronic copy of our registration form will be sent out starting June 4. You can return it via email –
please be sure to sign the bottom in acknowledgement of the policies listed on the reverse side of
the form. If you choose this method, please submit a check to the rectory at your earliest
convenience.
Via the web
Our registration form will be posted online beginning June 4. You can download the form there and
return it via email or via traditional post. Again, please do sign the form to acknowledge that you
are aware of the policies on the reverse side.
Via Traditional
Completed registration forms can be mailed to: Amy Chapman, St. Ignatius Church, 28 Commonwealth
Avenue, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467.
Register in Person
Call or email for an appointment to come to the rectory anytime Jerry or I are in the office (usually every
day of the week except Saturday) and we will help you with the paperwork. You can also pick up
a registration form and mail it back to us, or you can drop off a completed registration form in my
mailbox.
Donations
We are very grateful for the donations that are given to our parish for our Faith Formation program.
While we operate on a largely volunteer basis, textbooks, supplies, retreats, and sacramental
preparation materials add up. Your donations are the key to helping our program maintain its
high standards. If you return your registration form in person or through the post, we welcome
donations along with your registration form. If you return your form electronically, you can
submit a check to the rectory in person or through the mail; either way please mark it to Amy
Chapman’s attention. If you wish, your Faith Formation donation can be drawn from your Pledge for the
Greater Glory account. In order for us to do this, you must notify us in writing (email is sufficient).

Look Up and See
In ancient times, art and architecture were used in churches to teach and inspire the faithful. Our church
continues that tradition, using stone, wood and glass. You are invited to take a new look at our church, to
see its beauty and to allow it to deepen your faith.
Along the body of the church, called the nave, where the oak ceiling
meets the side walls are twenty-eight crosses of the world. These crosses
are in the various ecclesiastical colors of red, blue, green, and white.
Each cross is bordered by a thin band of gold leaf and is set on a walnut
shield.
On the side of the church nearest the parking lot, called the Gospel side,
going from the sanctuary to the choir loft, these crosses are: Greek
(Green); Archiepiscopal (Blue); Crosslet (White); Milrine (Red); Barbee
(Green); Moline (Blue); Quadrate (White); Maltese (Red); Bottone
(Green); Tau (Blue); Fourchee (White); Avellane (Red); Ankh (Green);
and Chi-Rho Anchor (Blue).
On the side of the church nearest Commonwealth Avenue, sometimes
called the Epistle side, going from the sanctuary to the choir loft, these
crosses are: Latin (Red); Papal (White); Jerusalem (Blue); Calvary
(Green); Satire (Red); Ancree (White); Patonce (Blue); Formee (Green);
Pommee (Red); Pall (White); Potent (Blue); Celtic (Green); Chi Rho
(Red); and Fluery (White).
