Due to renovations in the lower church, the Parish Transitions Group, will meet in the parish rectory
next door in the interim. For the month of August, the meetings will be every two weeks. We will

BOOK DISCUSSION - Looking for summer reading? May we suggest The Gift by Hafiz, translated by Daniel
Ladinsky. Then join us for discussion of this book on September 20th at 11:15 in the rectory living room. Reviewer

ST. IGNATIUS MUSIC MINISTRY
CHORAL SINGERS : Our wonderful St. Ignatius
10am choir will begin the new season with an "open
rehearsal" for those of you who may be interested in
joining this year. The open rehearsal will be held on
Wednesday, Sept. 2nd at 7:15 pm in the church
basement Choir Room. Come meet the choir and sing
through some of the choir's new repertoire. A
dessert reception will follow in the Friary Room. For

5:30 CONTEMPORARY ENSEMBLE is looking for
new members as well. We are praying especially

FAITH FORMATION
REGISTRATION FOR 2009 – 2010: St. Ignatius Faith Formation has begun the registration process for
the 2009 – 2010 academic year and will continue throughout the summer. As usual, the earlier you
register, the easier it is for our office. Because we are grateful when you register early, we will ask for a
“pre-registration” donation of $200 per family. After September 20, our registration fee will be $250 per
family. If you have not already registered, we urge you to do so as soon as possible.

SHATTUCK FOURTH TUESDAY –August 25th is our next opportunity to serve
the Guests at Shattuck Shelter. We serve their dinner, but bring along
desserts. If you’d like to donate a dessert, please bring it to the Rectory by
4PM on the 25th. If you’d like to serve this month, please call the Parish

AUSTRIAN DELIGHT – PASSION PLAY TRIP - A play of life and death, promised in a moment of
mortal threat - so began the history of the Oberammergau Passion Play in 1633. In the year 2010, the
Community of Oberammergau will perform for the 41st time the Passion Play they have preserved
throughout the centuries with singular continuity. Corpus Christi-St. Bernard Parish of Newton will
sponsor a trip to the Passion Play – including visits to sites in Germany and Austria – from August 24September 1, 2010. Cost for the trip is $3,899 (per person/double occupancy). A slide show and
information about the trip will be conducted on Monday, August 24 at 7:00 pm in Father Moore Hall (St.
Bernard’s Church, 1529 Washington Street, West Newton). For additional details, call 617-244-0608.

THE SACRAMENTS
BAPTISM
Adults are baptized at the Easter Vigil as part of the Rites of Christian Initiation for
Adults. Infant and child baptisms are by arrangement.
FIRST EUCHARIST
Preparation occurs in Grade 1 and includes classes, retreats and home instruction.
CONFIRMATION
Our Confirmation program begins in the 9th grade. Students are confirmed in the
Spring of the 10th grade. Young adults who have been catechized but are not yet
confirmed should contact the rectory for an alternative program.
MATRIMONY
Must be registered as a parishioner six months prior to beginning Marriage
arrangements.
RECONCILIATION
Saturdays 3:15 - 3:45 PM Upper Church or by arrangement
ANOINTING OF THE SICK by arrangement
