ASSISTANCE WITH EASTER FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS Have you ever looked at the floral arrangements around the church and wondered how you too could design such lovely expressions of beauty? If so, here's an opportunity for you. On Good Friday, April 2 at 1 pm the St. Ignatius Arts & Environment team will be hosting a class for anyone interested in learning and making floral arrangements. There are no special requirements, only a belief in what you create is a delight to God. The class is designed to not only show you how to make floral arrangements, but to also enable you to participate in decorating the church for Easter. All arrangements will be used as a part of the decor for Easter. If this is something you would like to participate in, please contact Eric Haydel by March 22 via email at haydel.eric@yahoo.com or by phone at 985-859-7861. Please respond with your interest as soon as possible. Class space is limited. If so, we invite you to return your Rice Bowl contributions next weekend. You will find the large “bowl” near the Outreach table in the Gathering Space; another bowl is inside the Lannon Chapel. Your returns will be brought forward with the Sunday collection. However, if you have not reached your goal by then, you may bring your donations in after Easter Sunday; the large collection bowls will be in place again on April10th/11th. For further information about all that Catholic Relief Services does, go to www.crs.org. SOCK AND FLIP-FLOP DRIVE: We’re joining in the work of Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program by conducting a Sock and Flip-Flop Drive again this year, for the entire month of March. One collection box is by the Outreach table and the other in the hallway outside the Friary Room. What’s needed are new, white cotton socks (male and female) and new flip-flops for shower use. Learn more about BHCHP at www.bhchp.org. HABITAT FOR HUMANITY: This year we’re being afforded a number of opportunities to respond to the tradition of Lenten almsgiving. Operation Rice Bowl is well under way and we’re in the midst of our March socks and flip-flops collection for Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. In addition, this month two teams of St. Ignatius parishioners will be directing their almsgiving efforts of time and labor to work at a Habitat for Humanity building site in Dorchester. In addition to the donation of volunteer labor, Habitat requires participating organizations to make a cash donation to underwrite the expenses incurred for building materials and paid supervisory staff. Would you consider supporting the St. Ignatius Habitat teams by including this in your almsgiving efforts this Lent? Funds from a firm or company to support Habitat and our building teams are also most welcome. If you’d like to be a part of the parish’s Habitat effort through your cash donation, call Sr. Diane at 617-552-6107.
