Dear Parishioners,
The question that Jesus asks of his disciples in today’s Gospel could be the most important in
the whole Gospel: “Who do you say that I am?” This question invites them to reflect not only
on his identity but on the relationship each has with him. Another way of asking the question
could be; “Who am I for you? What real difference do I make in your life?”
From the time when we are very young, most of us have heard “about” Jesus. We learn that he
is our Savior, our Redeemer, the Son of God. Hopefully over time and as we mature, we come
to know and love him for who he is in himself and not just for the role he plays in salvation
history. The “one on one” relationship with Jesus is the very heart of the Spiritual Exercises of
St. Ignatius. In the second “week” of the Exercises we ask for the grace “to know Jesus
intimately, to love him more intensely, and so to follow him more closely.” Over the coming
weeks, I hope to share some reflections with you about the ways in which our parishioners
answer the question, “Who do you say that I am?”
Fr. Bob

FAITH FORMATION REGISTRATION FOR 2012 – 2013

office. Our suggested – and much appreciated – donation to offset the costs of the program is $250 per family.
Please make every effort to register prior to the first day of Faith Formation. To register, please contact Susan
Stuart at 617-552-6105 or langinst@bc.edu. All of our classes meet on Sunday.

Join the St. Ignatius Youth Group for an outing of apple picking! We will be carpooling from St. Ignatius to Honey

CATECHISTS NEEDED!
Our Faith Formation program is looking for catechists for the 2012-2013 academic year! Our program serves the
needs of our parishioners in pre-school through high school, and our classes all meet on Sundays. We are currently
looking for catechists in all levels of our program. If you would like more information, or have an interest in
serving in this ministry, please contact Susan Stuart, langinst@bc.edu or 617.552.6105, or Amy Chapman,
chapmaab@bc.edu or 617.552.6103.
PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN PROGRAM
The Archdiocese of Boston requires all volunteers (in whatever capacity) to complete a training program in child abuse
protection. If you are thinking of becoming a volunteer in any of our ministries (lector, coordinator of liturgy, choir
member, etc.), or if you are already a new volunteer in any ministry, you must be able to verify your attendance at a
Protecting God’s Children (PGC) program. If you have completed this program in another location, you should have a
certificate of attendance given you at that time. We need a copy of that certificate. If you have any questions or concerns,
please contact the appropriate supervisor of your ministry.
The next PGC program is to be held on Sunday, September 30, 2012, from 2-4:30 PM in the Choir/Media room in the
lower church.
If you plan to attend either session, please contact Mary Blackburn (617-552-6039) or Betty McLaughlin (617-552-6102 /
ignatius@bc.edu) as soon as possible. Space is always limited.
Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining a safe and secure atmosphere for all the children at St. Ignatius parish.

La Página Hispana
Del Escritorio del Padre Bob
Queridos Parroquianos,
