PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN PROGRAM
The Archdiocese of Boston requires all volunteers (in whatever capacity) to complete a training program in child
abuse protection. If you are thinking of becoming a volunteer in any of our ministries (lector, coordinator of
liturgy, choir member, etc.), or if you are already a new volunteer in any ministry, you must be able to verify your
attendance at a Protecting God’s Children (PGC) program. If you have completed this program in another
location, you should have a certificate of attendance given you at that time. We need a copy of that certificate. If
you have any questions or concerns, please contact the appropriate supervisor of your ministry.
There are two PGC programs coming up in September. The first is to be held on Sunday, September 16, 2012,
from 2-4:30 PM in the Choir/Media room in the lower church.
The second will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at the same time and in the same place.
If you plan to attend either session, please contact Mary Blackburn (617-552-6039) or Betty McLaughlin (617552-6102 / ignatius@bc.edu) as soon as possible or at least before September 13, 2012. Space is always limited.
Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining a safe and secure atmosphere for all the children at St. Ignatius
parish.

Please make every effort to register prior to the first day of Faith Formation. To register, please contact Susan
Stuart at 617-552-6105 or langinst@bc.edu. All of our classes meet on Sunday.

each liturgy for a special celebration,

and have received Eucharist.
LITTLE ROCK SCRIPTURE STUDY
This semester, we will be studying “Hebrews” which reviews the history of Israel to demonstrate how Jesus fulfills
and even surpasses all of the hopes expressed in the Old Testament. It presents Jesus as the unique high priest
who is simultaneously the one who offers sacrifice to God and is himself the sacrifice. Tuesday September 18th
The study begins Tuesday, September 18th at 7:15 pm in the Lannon Chapel. The cost is $20.00, which includes a
commentary, study guide and DVD presentation of the study. New members are always welcome. To register,
you may call the Parish Office, 617-552-6102. If you have any questions, please call John Dafarra 781-899-9540.

ST. IGNATIUS SUMMER READ
Have you finished our Summer read? If not, you may want to , as Julia Alvarez comes to St. Ignatius through
Skype this Fall discussing her children's book Return to Sender and, in a second program, Wedding in Haiti for
our adult community. Look for dates of each program in upcoming bulletins.
In the meantime, think about the two questions we posed to you earlier in the Summer. In Return to Sender, how
do Tyler and Mari, initially separated by Tyler 's fear of illegal immigrants on his farm, become friends ? For
Wedding in Haiti , what happened to both Julia Alvarez and Piti when she stepped outside the boundaries of her
community to befriend him?
ST. IGNATIUS MUSIC MINISTRY
If you are new to the parish and are interested in our music ministry groups, please check the postings on the
bulletin boards or check out our web page http://www.bc.edu/bc_org/prs/stign/music_ministry.html. Please
note that all new ministry volunteers will need to attend a meeting of PROTECTING GOD'S CHILDREN, the next
one being Sunday, Sept. 16 at 2pm.

Del Escritorio del Padre Bob
Queridos Parroquianos,
