It’s hard to believe that it’s coming to an end even though there we still have some more September summer days. The end of the season, however, signals the increase of parish life with the return of many parishioners from summer vacations. In the parish this means that there will more opportunities for active involvement in the many programs and events that the parish offers. There are two events that I would like to mention. On Saturday, the 22nd of September, there will be a “Jamaican Night”. There will be a live auction, Jamaican food and music and the opportunity to get to know other parishioners. Fr Rohan Tulloch, SJ, Pastor of St Anne’s Parish, will be with us for the weekend. This fundraiser for the St Anne’s Park project should be a wonderful evening for our parish community and will significantly benefit our sister parish in West Kingston. That same weekend of September 22nd/23rd will be our annual “getting to know your parish and fellow parishioners” Tent Event. This year the theme of the weekend is “Inspired to Act”. It is an invitation to become more involved in the life of the parish in the ways that work best for individuals and families. There is always a visit from St. Ignatius himself on the weekend, so please stop by the tent to greet him As I begin my 24th year as Pastor, I am grateful for the countless ways in which my life and ministry have been blessed by you! I look forward to sharing our parish life with you in the days and months to come. Sincerely, Fr Bob PRAYER LINE PETITIONS If you or someone you know is in need of prayers, you may call or email your petition to Maria Sullivan, 617-527-9136 or mariasullivan18@gmail.com. Please leave a message with the name of the person for whom prayers are requested. If you would like to join in prayer, you may also contact Maria. We will not meet as a group; rather, Maria will send out weekly emails with the names of those requesting prayers and each member will pray individually. 1. Save The Date!! “Inspired To Act” September 22 and 23, 2012 During this weekend, our Parish Community will come together after each liturgy for a special celebration, including fun activities for persons of all ages. Watch for more details in the bulletin and on the website about this exciting event. Mark the date in your calendar and plan on joining us! 3. ST. IGNATIUS SUMMER READ Have you finished our Summer read? If not, you may want to , as Julia Alvarez comes to St. Ignatius through Skype this Fall discussing her children's book Return to Sender and in a second program Wedding in Haiti for our adult community. Look for dates of each program in upcoming bulletins. In the meantime, think about the two questions we posed to you earlier in the Summer. In Return to Sender, how do Tyler and Mari, initially separated by Tyler 's fear of illegal immigrants on his farm, become friends ? For Wedding in Haiti , what happened to both Julia Alvarez and Piti when she stepped outside the boundaries of her community to befriend him? We hope everyone will join us in supporting St. Anne's in the upcoming Jamaican Art Auction, remembering what Julia Alvarez has shown us as she's taken us on the journey of how much more we become by sharing in the larger communities that surround us.
