PROGRESS REPORT – 2014 CATHOLIC APPEAL
We are pleased to share that St. Ignatius Parish has raised $45,997 toward our 2014 Catholic Appeal goal
of $76,321. Because of your generosity, we are at 60% of our goal. Your support is deeply appreciated by
Cardinal Sean and by all who benefit from the fifty ministries made possible by the Appeal. We need
everyone’s help. If you have yet to make a pledge, we ask you to prayerfully consider how you can help.
The Appeal Pledge forms are available at the back of the Church.
BOOK DISCUSSION
On June 22nd, in the living room of the parish offices, there will be a discussion of the book The December
Project by Sara Davidson. Publishers Weekly describes this work as the fruit of a series of weekly
conversations conducted over two years between the 60-something journalist Davidson and the
pioneering rabbi, Zalman Schachter-Shalomi. Besides touching on topics like aging well, facing mortality,
and dying, Davidson provides a biographical sketch of Schacter-Shalomi from his narrow escape from
the Holocaust to his encounters with Thomas Merton. Please join us at 11:15 on June 22nd for a discussion
of this interesting work.

ARRUPE: HELP FOR FAMILIES FLEEING PERSECUTION
The Church stands in solidarity with refugee families and forced migrants around the world. The Jesuit
Refugee Service, the USCCB Migration and Refugee Services and many other Church organizations help
them through accompaniment, education, pastoral care, advocacy, and resettlement assistance.
This is also the ministry of the ARRUPE group at St. Ignatius Parish. On June 20th, the United Nations
will observe World Day for Refugees. On the weekend of June 21st and 22nd , ARRUPE members will be
collecting at the door after each liturgy to fund their refugee support activities. Watch for refugee films
that same weekend!

Pray for refugees and those who assist them.

Queridos Parroquianos,
Comparto con ustedes otra reflexión que viene del programa, REZANDOVOY.COM. Vuelvo a
sugerirles que descarguen este programa de la oración diaria que les ayudarán en su vida espiritual.
Tu paso
A veces es el cuerpo, siempre alerta
mientras duerme el alma, el que recibe primero
tu llegada impredecible en medio de la noche.
Has entrado sin ruido
en mi casa cerrada,
has distendido mis nudos
y has abierto el último balcón de mis pulmones a la brisa.
Tu levedad de aurora
se ha encarnado por sorpresa.
Entonces mi espíritu despierta y se da cuenta que has llegado.
Me dejaste tu presencia encaminando tu visita
por mis huesos y memorias, y ya te has ido en silencio dejando mi ventana abierta a todo el sol de la
mañana.

SAVE THE DATE: LECTURE PRESENTED BY REV. MATT MALONE
EDITOR- IN- CHIEF OF AMERICA MAGAZINE
We are pleased to present a lecture by Father Matt Malone, S. J. on Wednesday, May 28 at 7:00 p.m. in the
Parish Center at St. Cecilia’s Church in Boston. Father Malone's topic will be: "The five words that
changed our Church - WHO AM I TO JUDGE?" This is, of course, a reference to one of the most
promising and controversial statements made in the past year by Pope Francis I. Matt Malone, S.J., is the
14th and youngest editor in chief in America magazine's history. Fr. Malone began his tenure as editor in
chief on October 1, 2012. He was the recipient of the 2006 first place Catholic Press Association award for

before entering religious life. His writing has appeared in numerous national and international
publications and his work and ideas have been featured in The New York Times and The Washington
Post among others. There is no charge for the event. The Saint Cecilia Rainbow Ministry will be hosting a
