OUTREACH MINISTRIES Continuing Our Call to Confront Global Poverty: Thank you for answering the call to live as Jesus' disciples for all nations this Lent. Your prayers, fasting, and almsgiving provide tangible assistance to our brothers and sisters in need around the world. Go to www.crs.org. RICE BOWL RETURNS: Please place donations in the very large rice bowl on the Outreach table. Donations should be returned by May 22nd. Thank you! On behalf of the thousands of individuals and families in Massachusetts who face food insecurity every day – THANK YOU! THANK YOU for your generosity in the spring clothing drive. The Guests at St. Francis House are grateful for your care and concern for them. We have committed to serving dinner at Cor Unum Meal Center in Lawrence on three Saturday nights – June 25th, July 23rd and August 20th. If you/your family members would like to be on a serving crew, contact Sr. Diane at 617-552-6107 or vallerio@bc.edu. Children may accompany parents to serve, but they should be old enough to play a part in the serving process. HABITAT BUILD DAYS SCHEDULED: Join one of the teams of St. Ignatius parishioners that will be working at Habitat-for-Humanity Greater Boston construction sites in Dorchester on Saturday, May 21st and Saturday, June 4th. Spend the day working to “build hope by building homes” in partnership with low-income families in need of decent housing. To sign up, contact Anton Finelli at (617) 327-8146 or afinelli@crmcx.com. 3. MUSIC MINISTRY NOTES. You never know where participation in our music ministry will take you! Kudos to our own Liam Moran who just finished a successful run in the Boston Lyric Opera's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Liam began his singing with our children's carol choir and sang throughout his high school years with our adult choir. He is building a career as an operatic bass and sings all over the country. We congratulate him and his proud parents Paul and Susan. St. Ignatius is committed to creating music ministry opportunities for our children. Please see our website for all the opportunities available to our musical parishioners. The Archdiocese for the Military Service (AMS) – A Global Archdiocese - The AMF worldwide mission is to provide for the pastoral care of the 1.5 million Catholics serving in the armed forces, their family members, students at the Military Academies, patients in VA medical centers and US government personnel serving abroad. They receive no funding from the military or government agencies, have no parishes to provide funding and has no territorial borders. Their funding comes from the general public (59%) Chaplains, military members and their families (28%) and Catholic foundations and a few dioceses (13%). A brochure with donation envelope on the bottom will be on the table in the Gathering Space this weekend for the collection next weekend. NAMI (THE NATIONAL ALLIANCE ON MENTAL ILLNESS) is sponsoring a three mile walk which will begin at Artesani Park, Cambridge and continue along the Charles River on Saturday May 21st beginning at 11:00 am. For more information, please call 781-938-4048 or www.namimass.org. A Prayer for Generosity Dear Lord, teach me to be generous, teach me to serve you as you deserve, to give and not to count the cost, to fight and not to heed the wound, to toil and not to seek for rest, to labor and not to seek reward, save that of knowing that I do your will.
